This Privacy Policy explains how EMC Horizons LLC (“EMC
Horizons,” “we,” “us”), a Pennsylvania limited
liability company in the United States, handles information in connection with
Tech Ops — our field-service management application and related
website and services (together, the “Service”). It applies to the
Tech Ops apps for iOS and Android and to the web app.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account & profile: your name, email address, password
(stored only as a salted hash — we never see it in plain text), and optionally
a phone number, job title, role, and profile photo, plus the company or
organization you belong to.
- Operational content you enter: the business data you and your
team put into Tech Ops — tickets, projects, customer and site records, site
addresses, virtual walkthroughs and device details, inventory and catalog items,
schedules and events, estimates and invoices, notes, photos, floor plans, and
documents.
- Payment information: if you subscribe, payments are processed
by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store
full card numbers; we retain subscription details such as plan, status, and (at
most) the card brand and last four digits.
- AI assistant input: text you submit to the in-app assistant
(“Clippy”). Some assistant features run entirely on your device;
others send your request to our AI provider to generate a response (see
“Who we share with”).
- Support & communications: messages you send us and the
contents of in-app team chat.
Information collected automatically
- Device & app data: app version, device type, and operating
system, used for compatibility, security, and troubleshooting.
- Log & diagnostic data: limited technical logs (for example,
error events and request metadata) to keep the Service reliable and secure,
including license/anti-piracy validation.
- Location: if you grant permission, we use your device location
to show nearby sites on the map, provide directions, and support trip and
time-tracking features. You can turn this off in your device settings; the app
still works without it. We also convert the addresses you enter into map
coordinates (geocoding).
- Camera & photos: with your permission, the app uses your
camera to scan barcodes and capture photos, and your photo library to attach
images to tickets, walkthroughs, and inventory. Images are only accessed when you
use those features.
- How you heard about us: a referral or source tag captured at
signup (for example from a link parameter) so we understand where sign-ups come
from.
What we don't do: Tech Ops contains no third-party advertising or
ad networks, and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not track you
across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your personal information.
2. Why we collect it
- Provide the Service — run your tickets, projects, walkthroughs,
inventory, scheduling, mapping, estimates/invoices, and the rest of the app.
- Authenticate & secure accounts — sign you in, protect
accounts, prevent abuse, and validate licenses.
- Billing & subscriptions — process payments and manage your
plan and seats.
- Maps & dispatch — locate sites, plan routes, and provide
directions.
- AI assistance — generate responses in the in-app assistant.
- Support & communication — answer questions and send
service-related messages.
- Improve & maintain reliability — diagnose problems and
improve the product.
- Legal compliance — meet our legal, tax, and regulatory
obligations.
For users in the EEA/UK, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a
contract (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve
the Service), your consent (for optional device permissions such as location and
camera), and compliance with legal obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run the Service. We do not
sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
- Your organization. Tech Ops is a shared team workspace. Data
you enter under your company's account is visible to authorized people in that
organization (for example administrators, managers, and dispatchers) according to
their roles. Your employer or account administrator controls that company data.
- Hosting — our web host (Bluehost) stores the Service's data on
servers in the United States.
- Payments — Stripe processes subscription payments.
- AI provider — when you use the online assistant, your request
is sent to Anthropic (the Claude API) solely to generate a
response. That content is not used to train AI models.
- Maps & geocoding — we use OpenStreetMap-based services
(Nominatim / Photon) to convert addresses into map coordinates.
- Email delivery — our email provider sends account and
service-related email.
- Legal & safety — we may disclose information if required by
law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers — if EMC Horizons is involved in a merger,
acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that
transaction, subject to this policy.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account and company are active and as needed to
provide the Service. After that, we delete or anonymize it, except where we must
retain certain records to meet legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations
(for example, invoice records). Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.
5. How to access or delete your data
You can request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to
delete it. To make a request, email operations@emchorizons.com
with the subject “Data Request” from the email address on your account.
We will verify your identity and respond, and complete deletions, within 30 days —
except for information we are legally required to retain.
Because Tech Ops is a team product, some content is owned or controlled by your
company or employer. Where that is the case, your account administrator manages that
data and can add or remove users. If you signed up on your own, you can request full
deletion of your account and its data using the email above.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or
export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to
withdraw consent. We honor these requests as required by applicable law, including
the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California). We do not sell personal information
or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out
of on that front. To exercise any right, contact us using the email below. You will
not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
7. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed
passwords, role-based access controls, and least-privilege practices. No method of
transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and to
respond promptly to any issue.
8. Children
Tech Ops is a business tool intended for use by adults in a work context. It is not
directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and
we will delete it.
9. International users
We operate from, and store data in, the United States. If you use the Service from
outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S.,
where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
This policy applies to the Tech Ops apps distributed through the Apple App Store and
Google Play as well as the web app. The specific categories of data disclosed in
each store's privacy labels (Apple’s “App Privacy” and Google’s
“Data safety”) are drawn from this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the
“Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more
prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept
the revised policy.
